Golf

Outside of the hot summer months of July & August, the weather is ideal for a round of golf. Within easy access of Tourouzelle are several golf courses that golfers of all levels will find rewarding. From the beautiful setting of Mazamet golf course in the Black Mountains to the course at Carcassonne that overlooks the mediaeval city.

There are several courses nearby and many courses in the area are covered by the Languedoc Roussillon Golf Pass. Nearby courses covered by the pass include:

Carcassonne (approx 38 km, 40 minute drive) – near the famous medieval city, this pleasant and diverse course offers a nice technical and tactical range. The ninth hole is considered to be the most original in Europe.

Saint Thomas, Beziers (approx 40 km, 40 minute drive) – in a wild, preserved environment of Mediterranean scrub, the course has been designed with a special look: woods, valleys and lakes offer obstacles worthy of one of the great courses.

Cape d’Agde (approx. 72km, 1hr drive) – these two rather original courses (18 and 9 hole), respect the native scrubland with its pine trees and oak trees. Green card holders can use the 18 hole course, with free access to the 9 hole course.

Mazamet golf course is a pleasant drive of around 1hr, through the Montagne Noir. Although it is not covered by the golf pass, it is well worth a visit and if you go on the first Friday of the month, the green fees are half price! The 18 hole course (5,635m) is spread over 54 hectares and is intertwined by two rivers, with 74 different species of trees and is arguably one of the most beautiful golf courses in the area.
